Hi Ute,
I just got home from Shelburne
and have been enthusiastically telling my family about your health and
fitness center. Spinning Class with Samuel was outstanding. I have taken
other spinning classes and feel his was one of the best. It's obvious his
aim is to bring a balance of wellness to his class. Please thank him again
for me.
I also want to thank you for
your hospitality. You made it easy for a guest to feel comfortable and
welcomed. The equipment and facility is also impressive. It was a real
treat to work out in such a beautiful and well-cared center.
I hope to see you the next
time I pass through Shelburne!
Sincerely,
Robin
Tara is like a breath of fresh air! I took her spinning class, followed by yoga. The music was new, upbeat, inspiring. she was responsive to the class and engaged. Great adjustments in yoga. The perfect morning and start to the weekend. ~ DCM Ute, I just wanted to write you a quick note to tell you how much I've been enjoying Shelburne Health & Fitness -- especially the staff that works there. Every time I go there, I'm greeted warmly and cheerfully and, when I leave, regardless of how tired and pained I am, I can't help but smile because they're always so friendly and nice. Great job with everything! ~ Mike Balzano
Hi Ute: Hello Shelburne Health Fitness
staff, ~ Mr. & Mrs. Prior From the March 30, 2006 issue of the Shelburne News... For the past two months, Shelburne Health & Fitness has generously donated their indoor Spinning room on Tuesday nights to century riders and triathletes participating in the Lake Tahoe Century and Memphis in May Triathlon for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training Program. We are grateful to Ute Talley and her staff at Shelburne Health & Fitness for the opportunity to train in their facility. Ute was very committed to helping out our athletes and lending her support to Team in Training. Clearly Shelburne Health & Fitness is a great asset that is vested in promoting a positive experience to all its members and those within the community. Thank you, Shelburne Health & Fitness, for your support and generosity!
~ Scott Berkman Wow! The yoga sessions with Jane give all of us in the class such a gift of health and gentle, committed community. Many thanks for her expertise and peaceful presence. We'd like to enjoy it for even longer each session! ~ Anonymous From the February 23, 2006 issue of the Shelburne News... I believe even the smallest good deeds should not go unheralded, thus I feel compelled to write about something that my mother, Darrel Morris, recently experienced with the folks at the newly-opened Shelburne Health & Fitness. In mid-January, she made the somewhat radical decision to have both her feet operated on. The problems she was having were interfering with her lifestyle and ability to function freely, plus preventing her from running, a favorite physical activity. She decided to move forward with the bilateral procedure, knowing it would leave her wheelchair- and house-bound for at least a month. Part of what helped her survive was getting out on a daily basis and interacting with others. Fortunately, she had a friend who could help. She also believed that maintaining a level of fitness would contribute to her recovery process, so she headed to the gym to meet both needs. Ute Talley, owner and general manager of Shelburne Health & Fitness, and staff members Sandi Canegallo and Jane Jarecki, deserve mention for the part they played in her recovery. Those women greeted her at their establishment daily, without fail, with nothing short of the red-carpet treatment. She was welcomed with smiles, encouragement, support, and practical assistance. Ute even went through the facility with her to find out just how wheelchair-friendly their place was, willing to make any necessary changes. In short, Shelburne Health & Fitness really lived up to their motto: "We're going to make you feel at home!" ~Crawford Morris Dear Ute and staff; On January 16th I was assisting a driver who had been involved in a crash on I-91 when an out-of-control car that had already hit a van and the guardrail came right at me at 50 MPH. With nowhere to go, I jumped high enough to clear the hood (no small feat, considering it was an '84 Impala) with all but my lower legs. Instead of a direct hit in the torso, I sustained only a break in the smaller bone in my lower left leg when I was thrown over the car, and a concussion either when I glanced off the windshield or hit the pavement after the car had gone under me. I am out of my walking cast and almost back to normal. I am certain that the few extra inches' elevation I was able to call upon were there because of the physical fitness program that we pursued together at your gym. The wisdom, enthusiasm and commitment to physical fitness of you and your staff that make it so rewarding and such a pleasure to be there turned out to be the difference between a close call and a tragedy. You guys make going to the gym a fun and very worthwhile experience every time. I know also that I can credit my speedy recovery to the healthy living that I have come to know from being part of your family. I want to thank you for being available to me and for your passion in physical fitness. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart,
Officer Jori
Fairbanks "Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed Joanna's Circuit Training class last night. The exercises were simple but effective. The mix of cardio and work stations kept the class interesting and Joanna's enthusiasm made the workout fun (even the abs and pushups!) so the hour zipped by. I'm feeling the "reward" of a good workout this morning. I would encourage other members to give the class a try."
~ Pat Mayo "Having had a one week free pass to participate at Shelburne Health & Fitness, it was clear it was the right choice for my fitness needs. First & primary for me is a level of cleanliness imperative for credibility. This club is immaculately clean and that matters and should never be taken lightly. "2nd, the management team lead by Ute is helpful and willing to go the distance. I spin most mornings and each instructor is upbeat, energized and skilled. "My most extraordinary experience to date was my first Yoga Flow class with Tara. I have never gone to a yoga class at a health club, believing the energy would not be the same (as a yoga studio). I learned more in my first class with Tara than with any other instructor I have had. Further, she is a gentle, caring professional driven not by her ego, but her caring. She is also incredibly flexible and an inspiration for me. "I made a choice to come a slight distance (Burlington) to Shelburne Health & Fitness and it is worth the ride to walk into a place I feel welcome and excited about what I am doing. "As most members, I am passionate about well-being and like all other 'Boomers' I wish to stay young until the end! Quite a statement, but, probably true for all of us. "The glue that holds this entire enterprise together, as I see it, is Ute Talley, who is a person who absolutely goes the distance, has a "Big" view, unusual sometimes in our green mountains, whose positive presence permeates the entire club in the best possible way. What more can anyone hope for? I am a committed new member. Thank you." ~ Rose Ann
Humphrey "I want to take this opportunity to thank Samuel for leading a fabulous (Spinning®) ride on Monday mornings. He provides a great balance in his choice of music and energy. I highly recommend his class to everyone." ~ Maureen "Hi Ute - just a quick note to tell you how much I enjoyed this morning's Step & Sculpt class with Carolyn. It's been a couple of years since I've taken a step class and I wasn't sure whether or not I would enjoy taking it up again. Carolyn made the transition back to step both fun and challenging. I loved every minute of it. It was a refreshing change of pace from the machines, and the way Carolyn moved from a step series to a sculpting series and back again was a great way to break up the class. I moved, I sweated, I felt muscles that I haven't felt in too long, and I left feeling as though I accomplished exactly what I needed - a workout that targeted major muscle groups and kept my heart rate up. So...my thanks to Carolyn and to all of you for providing a great Saturday morning class that's appropriately ambitious, very enjoyable, and not too early. I'm looking forward to next Saturday's class as well as more of Tara's yoga and a Pilates class or two. Until then, Happy New Year to you and your staff. I love being a member of your club - keep up the good work!" ~ Jody "I have taken several Spinning® classes from Samuel Lurie in the past two years. Each time I come away feeling great and very appreciative of Samuel's special talents:
